The map of the risk of desertification in the woods of Sicily

With the action A1 we intend to identify cartographically on a regional scale, the forest areas at higher risk because of climate change.

It was therefore prepared the map of the risk starting from the map of forest types (Forest Command, Department of Land and Environment, Sicily Region, 2010), which maps the forest cover according to the definition of forest FRA2000, with the "MAP OF SENSITIVITY TO DESERTIFICATION IN SICILY "(Department of Land and Environment, Sicily Region, 2011). This results in a reclassification of the first regional woodland cover in relation to the "classes of sensitivity to desertification". This first processing is one of the layers and the key criteria for the selection of areas of intervention within the various territorial districts indicated in the project document.
